Junior Youth Group: BLAST
BLAST is a Christian youth group for children and youth in 5th-8th grades. BLAST is an acronym for Building Lives Around Sound Truth, so we seek to find God's truth for us in His Word and teachings and develop strong ties with each other to learn how to live out our faith in our homes, churches, friendships, community, and world.
We meet each week on Monday nights during the school year from 6:00 - 7:30pm for food, fun, fellowship and explore how we can apply Christian Truth to our daily lives. We also plan activities throughout the summer and year, such as summer camp, VBS, field trips, family outings, and serving others through outreach.

We have some great topics for our Bible Studies this year and are looking forward to leading the group in discussions that currently includes an Easter series. The four part lessons are: Legends and Super Heroes, What Jesus Didn't/Did Say on the Cross, YOLO (You Only Live Once) Debunked, and What Happen to Death's Sting?

IMPORTANT INFORMATION from Lynn!!
I absolutely love this time of year! Seeing the beautiful dogwoods, azaleas, tulips, and everything in bloom makes me think about God's goodness and grace! But the greatest part of this time of year is acknowledging Jesus's great act of LOVE for me and all of humanity, even while we were sinners, to suffer on a cross for our salvation! It brings me to tears!!
I am excited and so thankful I get to meet back with my BLAST kids tonight and for the next five weeks! I've missed spending time with them. Tonight, we will begin an Easter series. The four part lessons are: Legends and Super Heroes, What Jesus Didn't/Did Say on the Cross, YOLO (You Only Live Once) Debunked, and What Happen to Death's Sting? I am really looking forward to guiding the group in looking at Easter in a very meaningful way!
I want to thank Jennifer Smithwick for filling in for me in March. I know the group was in excellent hands and have heard that she did an awesome job!
Chili Cook Off:
This Wednesday night, we will have our 2nd Annual Chili Cook Off to fund raise for Camp Glisson. Last year, this was a fun activity!! We had over a dozen pots of chili to sample, and the Smithwicks grabbed 1st and 3rd places!! As we did last year, we will line up the pots and allow people to sample each pot. It's a "people's choice" award with each person getting one vote for their favorite pot! We will have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place and a gift card for each place awarded. If you would like to enter a pot of chili, please have it in the Fellowship Hall by 5:45. Dinner will begin at 6:00. We will also have and ice cream sundaes for dessert. All BLAST members who participate will get an equal amount of the donations to be split for Camp Glisson. For those helping, please be at the church by 5:15 for set up!
May 6th, Last BLAST for 2018-2019 School Year:
We will conclude our BLAST Monday night meetings on May 6th. We will have a family cookout/kickball and slide show. Please RSVP by Monday, April 28th.
He Touched Me, April 18th:
Our church is presenting a beautiful drama on Maundy Thursday. Two of our BLAST parents are cast members in this play. The drama begins at 7:00 and includes Holy Communion.
Camp registration is open. Please go to www.glisson.org to register your child. We will reimburse the registration fee for ALL BLAST members. So far, I have 5 BLAST members signed up to go!
We are continuing to collect socks and underwear for school-aged children for MUST Ministries.
As always, if you know of 5th-8th graders that would be interested in BLAST, please email me those email addresses!
